Man arrested for impersonating a public official and unlawful recording.

The Nye County Detectives Division and Street Crimes joint investigation lead to the arrest of Paul Hycz. Hycz while residing at the Best Western/Wulfenstein's RV park, allegedly made calls to the Department of Motor vehicles posing as a public officer to seek an address of a citizen over a vehicle transaction. Then Hycz made several calls to the Nye County Sheriff's office and either spoke to or attempted to speak to personal there all while recording the phone calls on a digital recorder a category D Felony in the State of Nevada,( Nevada is a two party consent State to record a conversation on the telephone). The Detective Division served a search warrant on Hycz's residence and located the digital recorder which contained several recorded phone calls including 2 phone calls to Sheriff Anthony DeMeo without his knowledge. and 5 recorded calls involving other members of the NCSO without their knowledge.
Hycz was not present at the time of search as he was still incarcerated for his arrest from the Street Crimes Division for impersonating a public officer. Hycz has other charges pending for violation of a TPO and remains in custody. He is being held on $37,000 bail.
