Deputy shot while investigating a shots fired call at an R.V. Park

Nye County Sheriff's Office
On September 19, 2008 at approximately 0226 hours the Nye County Sheriff's Office received a call for service at the Terrible's Lakeside Casino and RV Park for shots being fired in or near the RV Park.

As responding officers arrived, they reported hearing gun shots in the area of the RV Park. While Deputies were searching the area, the suspect, who was lying in wait, opened fire on the officers, striking one deputy in the back. Deputies retruned fire striking the suspect, leading to the suspect being taken into custody.

The Deputy and the suspect were transported to the University Medical Trauma Center by Mercy Air. Both Officer and suspect are reproted to be in stable condition.

The names of the Deputy and Suspect are being withheld pending the conclusion of the investigation. More information will be released at a later time regarding this incident.
