Young adult arrested in front of Tonopah Shell for weapon charges.

ON DECEMBER 13, 2007 DEPUTY MARK KIBURIS WAS DISPATCHED TO THE SHELL GAS STATION IN TONOPAH FOR A MAN WITH A GUN. DEPUTY KIBURIS ARRIVED AT THE SHELL STATION AND THE CLERK ADVISED THAT A HISPANIC MALE, CARRYING A CONCEALED FIREARM AND WEARING ALL BROWN WAS TRAVELING ON FOOT SOUTH BOUND ON US 95.

DEPUTY KIBURIS AND DEPUTY TONY PHILLIPS OF THE ESMERALDA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE LOCATED THE SUSPECT MATCHING THE DESCRIPTION WALKING SOUTHBOUND ON US 95 NEAR THE US6 JUNCTION IN FRONT OF THE N.D.O.T. STATION. THE SUSPECT, IDENTIFIED AS MATHEW HERNANDEZ, APPEARED TO BE INTOXICATED AND HAD THE ODOR OF AN INTOXICATING BEVERAGE ON OR ABOUT HIS PERSON. THE SUSPECT WAS CARRYING A CONCEALED .45CAL RUGER "VAQUERO" REVOLVER(LOADED). HERNANDEZ WAS PLACED INTO WRIST RESTRAINTS AS DEPUTY PHILLIPS WAS DISARMING HIM.

HERNANDEZ ARRESTED THE SUSPECT FOR CARRYING A CONCEALED WEAPON AND POSSESSION OF A FIREARM WHILE INTOXICATED. HERNANDEZ WAS BOOKED AND IS BEING HELD ON $3,000 BAIL ON THE ABOVE CHARGES.
