Crime Prevention Unit

During the festive season of giving, one of the things we forget about is the box our gifts came in. These boxes we casually discard at the curb for the trash man to pick up on the first day after Christmas or any time we receive a gift. As a would be criminal drives by our homes, they see what gifts we received by the box setting out.

The Nye County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Unit suggests the following. Once the box or boxes have no further use, either cut them into smaller chunks for disposal into a trash bag or can or take them immediately to the local landfill.

In either case, do not forget to remove important items from the box like the U.P.C. label, manuals, receipts, etc.
