On 08/29/2006 members of the NCSO SCORPION Task Force and Street Crimes Unit working together developed information that additional evidence pertaining to the identification of the persons responsible for the shooting of Deputy Harry Williams could be located at the above residence. A search warrant for the property was obtained and served by members of the NCSO SWAT team, SCORPION Task Force, Street Crimes Unit, Uniform Patrol, and members of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms.
Through service of the warrant evidence and information was acquired identifying Jesus Rodrigues as the person who had shot Deputy Williams. Confirmation was also obtained showing that Rodrigues had been residing at this residence, but had recently fled in order to avoid capture. Rodrigues is believed to have departed with a substantial cache of weapons taken from the residence, and his immediate whereabouts are unknown.
Information acquired from the investigation will be used to procure an arrest warrant for Rodrigues; the investigation is still continuing.
Garcia, the primary male occupant of the residence, was arrested for being in possession of a handgun while having been convicted of several felony narcotics and escape related charges. Garcia is being held on $5,000 bail.
Additional charges are pending.
