NCSO Arrests Las Vegas Resident in Tonopah Chat Room Sting

On 01/14/06 at 1:00 PM, Suspect John M. Olshavsky age 49, a Las Vegas resident was arrested in Tonopah. Instead of meeting with a 13 year old female for sex. The suspect was greeted by Det. Ken Guthridge and arrested.

The arrest was possible with the cooperation of a child advocacy group "Perverted-Justice" who are engaged by sexual predators in chat room conversations and arranges meetings that end with suspects being placed under arrest instead of victimizing the innocent.

The suspect John Olshavsky made arrangements to meet what he believed was a 13 year old female. The suspect who initiated the chat room conversation with, what he believed was a 13 year old female, with discussion of a sexual nature, the suspect stated that he would meet her in Tonopah about 250 miles from his home in Las Vegas.

The suspect stated that he would bring an Adult Toy with him. The information was given to the Nye County Sheriff's Office and surveillance was set up. The suspect fit the description that he gave to his intended victim, and was apprehended, also recovered was the Adult Toy.

In addition NCSO received a copy of the Chat Room discussion from Perverted-Justice.

Perverted-Justice has given the NSCO information in the past; however the suspects failed to show for the meetings. In those cases the names of the suspects were turned over to other jurisdictions for further investigation. Perverted-justice was the group who assisted Dateline III in having 50 sexual predators show up at a “Bust House” only to be arrested by Law Enforcement, that show will air February 3, 2006.

Suspect arrested for: Internet child luring w/ intent for sexual assault. Bail set at $20,000.00
