RMS Communications Group, Inc., National Association of Triads, and the Nye County Sheriff’s Office are joining forces.

RMS Communications Group, Inc. has been in the reuse and recycling business for the past 20 years and is an industry leader in the cell phone recycling industry. Every month they receive tens of thousands of old cellular phones from numerous sources.

In 2004 RMS Communications Group, Inc. developed the 911 Cell Phone Bank Program and is currently in the process of applying for non-profit status. The goal of this program is to provide tested cell phones to the abused and elderly as well as return funds to participating agencies for use in their communities.

Here is how the program works: 1) Members of the Nye County community bring cell phones to the Nye County Sheriff’s Office for use in supporting those who are in need of emergency communications. 2) The Nye County Sheriff’s Office sends the cell phones to the 911 Cell Phone Bank 3) 911 Cell Phone Bank process the phones and determines the best use (re-sale, entry into the program as a 911 handset, or recycling). 4) 911 Cell Phone Bank returns the funds gathered from the sale of handsets and emergency cell phones to the Nye County Sheriff’s Office for use in the comminutes.

RMS Communications Group, Inc. is currently working with more than 200 agencies across the US, and has distributed thousands of 911 emergency phones.

If you have any old cellular telephones that you want to get rid of, instead of throwing them away, donate them to the Sheriff’s Office. Take them to any sub-station, located in Pahrump, Beatty, or Tonopah. The 911 Cell Phone Bank offers this program FREE to the Nye County Sheriff’s Office and the citizens of Nye County.

The National Association of Triads is a partnership of three (3) organizations - law enforcement, senior citizens, and community groups. With the assistance of the National Association of Triads, the 911 Cell Phone Bank as stated, is making available good, used cellular telephones for seniors as well as abused women.
