| Emergency Response Instructor Class |
During the month of June 2005, four (4) Deputies of the Nye County Sheriff's Office have attended and successfully passed the American Red Cross Emergency Response course as well as the train the trainer course.
Essentially this means that Sheriff Anthony L. DeMeo’s commitment to better serving the citizens of Nye County has been stepped up a notch. I believe that this training will enable our deputies to better serve the public when they can bring to an emergency a higher level of medical assistance than just basic first aid. While deputies you have trained recently at the academy have been trained to this level already. Many of our veteran deputies haven’t yet attended this valuable training, now we can train within the agency to certify all deputies to the Emergency Responder level. Enhancing life saving care is brought to the victim more rapidly.
These four (4) deputies and a member of the armed forces (left to right Ray Robert, James Chandler, MSGT Chris Heppel 66th Rescue Squadron, Nellis AFB, Duane Downing, and Pete Hegge) are the Sheriff’s Office first members to be certified as “First Responders.” The “First Responder” level of training is one small step below the Basic Emergency Medical Technician. The members of the Sheriff’s Office have been previously certified in CPR/ First Aid/ AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
The members of the Sheriff’s Office listed above will begin training the rest of the members of the Sheriff’s Office to the Emergency Responder level.
